Frequently Asked Questions

  • An independent celebrant will write and deliver your bespoke ceremony that can be humanist, spiritual or have religious aspects to it - basically whatever you want it to be!

This means it can include any readings, music or rituals you wish.

  • A celebrant will craft unique ceremony for you, where everything is based on our conversations and your wishes so it’s completely bespoke.

  • I am based in Leeds, West Yorkshire but will happily travel across Yorkshire, and beyond, for your ceremony.
There is a travel fee of 50p per mile for ceremonies more than a 30 mile radius from Leeds.

  • Currently, celebrants in England and Wales are unable to perform the legal part of a wedding. But don’t worry, you can still have your wedding ceremony just how you want it with your chosen celebrant. The legal registration can be done before or after your celebrant-led wedding and isn’t expensive. You just need to request the basic statutory ceremony at your local registrar office, referred to as 2+2, with the two of you plus two witnesses.

  • Funerals and memorials can take place in a crematorium or at a burial site, but they can also be held in village halls, pubs or at home.
The legal requirements are that the death must be registered, and the body of the person who has died is disposed of by burial, cremation or any other legal means.

  • Essentially, there is no body at a memorial, which means you’re not bound by a location (crematorium or burial site), or a time frame. Therefore the ceremony can be as personal, creative, and indeed as long, as you like.

  • I am a discrimination-free celebrant and believe everyone should feel seen, as they are, regardless of their race, culture, faith, sexual orientation or gender. With me, you will find a safe space to recognise your love for any of the ceremonies I officiate.

  • The short answer is yes. However, thorough training, personal and professional development will make you a better celebrant. I followed a rigorous training programme with Heart-led Celebrants. Why? Because I wanted to feel confident that I had invested my time and gained sufficient knowledge before I started working with others.
